Star Wars Character Faces by MerlinTheRed Star Wars Character Faces by MerlinTheRed
This is a set of star wars character faces I made for the wall above my desk.

I searched for suitable images on the internet and converted them to vector format with four color levels using a combination of GIMP (to tweak the colors) and Inkscape (for vectorization). I selected fitting cardboard sheets, printed the contours on them, cut them out and glued them on top of each other for a subtle 3D effect. They are set on a construction of thicker cardboard that sets them a little off the wall, creating a nice floating effect. It was a little hard to align them all properly though.

Looks cool, but you should have used C-3PO and R2-D2 instead of Dooku and Grievous!

I wanted to make a sort of good guys vs. bad guys thing, having the same number of both. I know that those two are sort of out of place, but I didn't find any fitting alternatives from the old movies.

it's not really easy to find suitable images that still look good after vectorization. I think I looked for good ones of Tarkin but couldn't find any, and it's not clear who would go beside him. Same goes for Jango Fett for example. Perhaps Jango and Jabba the Hutt? That could be worth investigating.

C-3PO Is'n easy due to the shininess of the surface, but I found one image I could work with. I do have some more that I could make with a little effort, but I don't want to let it grow out of hand, and it has to stay symmetrical ;)

Perhaps Jango Fett and Leia in the bounty hunter getup? As for Tarkin, he was a high ranking navy character, so the obvious choice is admiral Ackbar.

It might also be interesting to do this with top views of the fighters and/or ships!
